The acrimonious clamor for news of the world’s first test-tube baby due to be born at Oldham ... showed no signs of abating yesterday, and the Department of Health and Social Security assured all newspapers that information from the hospital would be equally available to all ... The hospital was having great difficulty in maintaining normal services because of the “enormous number” of reporters seeking admission ... [According to a spokesman:] “Our obligation is to render every medical assistance to bring this unique birth to a successful conclusion, but we are in no way committed to involving ourselves in the publicity ...”
–Times, July 13, 1978.
Louise Brown, known as the first “test-tube” (Primary Uranus) baby, was delivered by Caesarean birth in Oldham, Lancashire, on July 25, 1978. Her birthplace is in the center of a Transcendental Midpoint-Field located between her Primary Uranus, which sets over the east coast of England, and her Tertiary Mars, which sets west of England, over the North Atlantic.
“Innovative, unusual, and experimental conditions” are ruled by Uranus, an especially appropriate Primary Transcendental here, since Brown’s “unique” (Uranus) birth was the result of an ovum “experimentally” (Uranus) impregnated in a laboratory. The enormous “publicity” generated by her birth is traditionally ruled by the “attention-seeking” Sun, Brown’s Secondary Transcendental Planet.
