[Least-aspected Pluto] [Venus]

Essentially, one might say, the cure is effected by love.
–Freud in a letter to Jung, December 6, 1906. The Freud/Jung Letters.1

Sigmund Freud

Biographer Ronald W. Clark has noted that Freud’s early visits to England decided him upon the path of attempting to “transform” or to “cure” (Primary Pluto) those in need, while his later work under Charcot, in Paris, clinched his decision to work in the field of “psychology” (Pluto): the “in-depth study / of the soul” (Primary Pluto / Secondary Venus). These locations are each under the setting position of Primary Pluto, the planet ruling “psychoanalysis.” In addition, Paris is located almost precisely under the Transcendental Intersection of Primary Pluto and Secondary Venus (Venus sets over northern France).
“Depth analysis / of Eros” and the “mysteries / of love” (Pluto / Venus) are apt descriptions of the nature of Freud’s work and of the symbolism involved in this Transcendental pairing.
Toward the end of his life, when he was forced to flee from the Nazis, Freud returned to this Primary Pluto line when he relocated to London (1938), where he continued his “research” (Pluto) until his death on September 23, 1939.
