[Least-aspected Sun]

You make us think of a tender sun which we can admire without looking away …
–Director Bertrand Blier, delivering a eulogy for Mastroianni in Paris, December 20, 1996.

I only really exist when I am working on a film.
–Marcello Mastroianni.

Marcello Mastroianni

International film “star” (Primary Sun) Marcello Mastroianni was born near the vertical, Midheaven position of his Primary Sun in Fontana Liri, Frosione, Italy. He survived a Nazi labor camp, pursued the hobby of acting in postwar Italy, and then began working with directors Luchino Visconti and Federico Fellini. Marcello later became “widely known” (Primary Sun) as the cinematic “alter-ego” (Sun) of Fellini in many of that director’s finest films. Marcello’s Primary Sun, ruler of “dramatic talent,” the “need for public acclaim,” and the “proud and dignified display of the self” is also the planetary symbol ruling the “limelight” or “public eye.” Marcello won three Academy Award nominations (an especially difficult feat for an actor speaking English as a second language) for Divorce Italian Style (1961), A Special Day (1977), and Dark Eyes (1987).
