[Least-aspected Mercury] [Saturn]

The news of Cornwallis’s surrender flew like wildfire over the country.
–E. Benjamin Andrews, History of the United States.

USA:
I. Cornwallis's surrender of the British to George Washington

The Mercury / Saturn Transcendental pairing symbolizes a “message / imposing limits and restrictions.” At the moment of Major General Cornwallis’s “formal / communiqué” (Secondary Saturn / Primary Mercury) of the surrender of the British forces to George Washington at Yorktown, Virginia, the eastern half of the United States was framed in a wide Transcendental Midpoint-Field. As we can see in the astrocartography for this moment, Primary Mercury runs in a vertical, Midheaven position just east of New England; Secondary Saturn curves over the central states, in a rising position; and Tertiary Sun passes directly over Virginia in a vertical, Midheaven position. This decisive “Transcendental moment” marked the official end of hostilities between the Colonial forces and the British, and it signaled the independence of the American Colonies.
